About Life After Burns
Life After Burns is a volunteer-run, Ontario-based non-profit founded by burn survivor Victoria Vass after she recognized the lack of long-term support available once survivors left the hospital. Today, the organization creates safe spaces through peer support, advocacy, education, and community programs, connecting burn survivors, caregivers, and loved ones across Ontario and Canada.
My Role
I create educational, resource-driven, and community-first content across social media. My work focuses on translating medical information into accessible content, amplifying survivor voices, promoting events and support groups, and helping survivors and caregivers discover resources that remind them they aren't navigating recovery alone.
Recovery doesn't end when someone leaves the hospital. While working with Life After Burns, I quickly realised that social media wasn't just a communication channel, it was often someone's first step towards finding a community that truly understood them.Every post became an opportunity to educate, reassure, or simply remind someone that they weren't alone.

From educational carousels and resource guides to event coverage, awareness campaigns, caregiver support, and survivor stories, I helped build content that balanced empathy with clarity. Rather than chasing trends, every piece started with one question: "How does this genuinely help someone in the burn community today?"

The work helped strengthen Life After Burns' digital presence while supporting a growing community built on trust, education, and shared lived experiences. More importantly, it gave survivors and their loved ones an accessible space to connect, learn, and feel represented throughout their recovery journey.
